I just bought monster milk. I see that is has the ingredient glycocytamine. Is that dangerous?

Positive Negative

There was a lot of Internet heated debates about glycocytamine being dangerous. But it's not a proven fact. It started from a popular author who took a stance and made a case against it. It quickly spread thru forums and the takeaway was "glycocytamine is dangerous!" which in fact, is not a proven fact.

Here's the lowdown on Glycocytamine in Monster Milk in relation to the ingredient missing in other Cytosport products..

1) Because of the controversy, the ingredient was pulled from the bigger consumer brands. Not because of factual cases of adverse reactions, more because the consumer was concerned, there wasn't a huge reason to keep it and so it made more sense to just pull it vs. trying to debate the topic.

2) Glycocytamine isn't approved for the collegiate lines. That further prompted the removal from their line of mainstream products.

3) Monster Milk is aimed at the hardcore bodybuilder who's not concerned with a budget (most protein at the lowest cost) and wants every possible advantage and edge.

This should provide you with some insight as to why it's not in some Cytosport products but is in Monster Milk. As with any line of supplements by any company, if you are concerned there's two important things you can do.

#1: Call the company and ask if there have been any reported adverse reactions to Monster Milk. Ask them specifically what their take is on Glycocytamine. These companies must keep detailed records of customers who call in complaints about adverse reactions. Go directly to the source.

#2: Research Glycocytamine and read opinions from many authors. Dig up as many facts as you can. Make an informed choice based on all the available research. Do not make swift judgments based on a single article, author or what you read spread around Internet message boards. You should always do some supplement research before ingesting any product.
