Does Conjugated Linoleic Acid (CLA) work for weight loss?

Rating: +0

Positive Negative

QUESTION:

I have been taking CLA for three weeks and have not lost one ounce. Do you know anyone that has lost weight on CLA?

ANSWER:

Most of us who are familiar with CLA have heard that it has promise when it comes to fat loss in animals but the human research is inconclusive.

Here's a recent 2006 study that pretty much gives CLA the thumbs down (it used to be promising) when it comes to fat loss at least for middle aged men engaged in a weight training program.

Conclusion:

Our results suggest that CLA supplementation of 3.2 g/d for four weeks does not promote decreases in VAT in middle-aged men currently participating in a resistance-training program. Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition. 3(2): 28-36, 2006

CLA may still prove useful as a healthy fat but for fat loss in humans, it doesn't seem to be useful yet...

My favorite fat loss combination is:

1 – HIIT cardio and moderate cardio (changes weekly)
2 – Green tea extract
3 – Caffeine

Pretty simple and cheap stack really and it works. Especially when I am on a cutting cycle.

Train hard and expect success,
