The Saga of Fitness Bullshit Continues

Question: Dear Marc, I subscribed to your newsletter(s).  Good stuff.  Been helpful.  Just wondering why you don't email that often?  Not that I want daily emails but you go months without a word. You alive? Answer: Indeed I am alive.  Thanks for asking.  There's 2 reasons why I don't email that often. Sorry Excuse #1:  I'm terrible at keeping in touch.  Ask anybody.  The thing that all my fitness peeps told me over and over was "the money is in the list."  I think what they meant was, keeping in regular contact with the people who have opted-in to your stuff is where the real value resides. ...

The Right Way to Do Dumbbell Squats

Squats Gone Wrong
While on Facebook, this image came across my timeline.  I knew immediately this wasn't some joke or staged exercise.  It was another "functional fitness" believer preaching the virtues of doing stability work. Before I go on ... Stability work is important! What I do not agree with is the manner in which it is being done.  The image above clearly being one of those.

Train like a Powerlifter, Look like a Bodybuilder?

Something bugs me about the current state of weight training in relation to the visual objectives.  I'm seeing more people engage in crossfit, kettlebell, functional fitness or training with a powerlifting 5x5 routine in hopes of getting a nice V-tapper of that slim bodybuilder physique. That’s NOT Revolutionary!

Seriously… can that word even be used next to "bodybuilding" without laughing hysterically? Occlusion Training now called Blood Flow Restriction Training Sets to Failure now called Neurological Overload Sets What in bodybuilding today is truly revolutionary? Think about it for a moment. For the sake of argument, let’s just agree that Creatine was the last revolutionary thing to hit the bodybuilding market. Well documented, over 300 peer reviewed research studies. (If you didn’t count supplements, I can’t think of anything recently that would classify!) That was some time ago. Since then, nothing has truly been revolutionary. Not HIIT, not high volume, not supersets, not one set...

This Really Ticks Me Off!

I got an email recently from a big shot that claimed that he could help me build muscle, tone my body, and all of the other body building related practices. This is not the bad part...Read on. Here is what really gets to me about people like this. The thing is, I happen to know that the person claiming the above has no experience in the subject at hand. He has never successfully created or developed the body of his dreams. There is a rumor floating around that the book he is selling was ghostwritten, in other words he did not even...
