Sexual Supplements Revealed

Friday, August 8th, 2008

Rumor Mill: Friday, August 8th, 2008

Code Name: Sexual Supplements Revealed

Whats Jeff Doing Now?

Bonus: Sexual Surge Recipes

Rumor has it that on Friday, August 8th, 2008, Jeff Anderson is including some chapter not previously included with his HomeMadeSupplement program.  As you may know, Jeff’s done a bang up job of showing you how to make certain brand name supplements at home for cheap.  If you are into that stuff, like saving money.

But now he’s got some chapter that he says is like “Viagra in your kitchen.”

This isn’t meant to be naughty or nasty, he’s just helping older guys out keep the energy levels high and making marriages happy all over the world.

I’m not sure what the 42 minutes of audio interviews or links to clinical studies is about…  and I’ve not seen this program yet.

If you are at all interested in this, head over to HomeMadeSupplementSecret.com

and see what it’s about.

I’m sure he’ll have some special announcement or more information on this new chapter.

Apparently since Jeff turned 40 this year, he’s now into anti-aging and living the good life as an older adult.  More power to him!

Flat Belly Diet

They Did It To You Again!

They Did It To You Again!

Have you seen this new Flat Belly Diet by Prevention Magazine?  It’s all the rage.   Once again, a new breakthrough diet is taking the online and offline world by storm.  Somebody is making a freaking mint by doing what works.

Selling YOU another freaking diet!

Does it work?

I’m sure it does.  I’ve never done a bodybuilding nutrition plan or a workout program that didn’t work for some time.  But like anything else, we return to what we know and what we’re comfortable with in the end.  Diets don’t work long term.

See that 91% success rate?

That will be the FAILURE rate long term.  If you are going to claim a 91% success rate please provide 2 things:

  • a full list of everybody who you tracked
  • how long they did this

Typical Advertising Methods Used:

Lose 15 lbs in 32 days

Sounds amazing.  But 15 lbs of what?  Fat/Water/Muscle?  Can you even make that claim to the general population?  I too would like to lose fat but according to my last stats, I’ve only got 30 lbs to lose and that includes essential fat.

No Exercise Required

Great.  Another plan preaching that you too can lose all this nasty blubber without exercising.  Does this country need any more excuses to sit around doing nothing?   Look…

I’m sure it’s legit.  You can lose weight strictly thru diet alone.  But it’s NOT the right thing to do for your long-term health.  But it’s a selling point.  In my opinion it’s irresponsible to sell books this way but it works.  And people make money.

I’d be far richer myself if I’d just follow what all these plans do… sell what works and keep the yapper closed about the truths that people simply don’t want to hear.  It’s a flaw.  I kinda want to do the right thing.

Targets Unhealthy Belly Fat First

How so?  Your body burns fat from all over.  You can’t spot reduce.  How people store fat is slightly different from person to person.  Women tend to store it differently then men.  But I guess if you are selling a diet book called the Flat Belly Diet, you better target the belly fat first right?  Who gives a crap about proving that you just need to say it.  Nobody can prove you wrong.

Lose Up to 7 1/2 lbs and 5 3/4 inches in just 96 hours

Need I say more?  A specific number given to the general population without any facts.  If you lose 7 1/2 lbs in just 4 days, you have to ask yourself, what the hell are you losing?  If it’s water, big deal.  If it’s muscle, I feel sorry for you.

Did I buy this book before I opened my mouth?

No I did not.  I can already tell from the marketing pitches, the website design and the fact they used “As seen on Rachel Ray” which means it might have been used to prop up a table leg.. but hey.. it was seen on the show… that it’s just another diet book aimed at overweight Americans.

Will it work?

For some yes.  Please comment on a diet that hasn’t worked for some time.  They’re people still doing Atkin’s for years.  There’s always exceptions to the rule and if you like just eating right and never moving, maybe this book is for you.  But it won’t be any different from the 12 or so you’ve already got.

Why do people buy this stuff?

Because it’s new.  It’s not what they are doing today and it gives them hope.  It’s the same reason people have 20 books on making money and fail to save for their futures.  Buying another diet book won’t do a thing for you if you don’t follow thru and make a commitment to sticking with it.

Should you buy this book?

Nope.  Stay away from diets.  They do work in the short term.  You’d be better off joining a Fat Loss Support Community and asking questions and getting educated before purchasing yet another book aimed at mainstream America.

Not available anywhere else

Except Amazon.com for $17.  That beats the 4 installments at $7.99 from the site itself!  If you feel compelled to order it, then at least save yourself a few bucks.

Should Weight Loss Claims be Classified as Disease Claims?

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

On April 17, 2008, three public interest groups and an OTC manufacturer of a weight-loss drug have filed a petition with the FDA to treat weight-loss claims for supplements as disease claims!

What Petition Wants to Classify Weight Loss Claims as Disease Claims?

In a petition sent to the FDA commissioner, Andrew von Eschenbach, MD, the Obesity Society, the American Dietetic Association, Shaping American’s Health and GlaxoSmithKline asked the FDA to reconsider it’s regulatory approach to weight loss supplements. Keep in mind, GlaxoSmithKline is the maker of Alli, currently the ONLY FDA approved OTC drug for weight loss.

Here’s the angle being taken…

Although not technically a disease, being overweight can be a risk factor for other diseases. Such close ties from weight loss supplements like it can lower high cholesterol, which is not a disease itself but is a sign of cardiovascular disease makes this a fine line to walk.

Based on a University of Connecticut study funded by GlaxoSmithKline, the study showed that consumers may misunderstand the regulation of supplements today by the FDA.

GSK-Funded Study Shows Confusion about Supplements

  • 54% of survey respondents that believed weight loss supplements are tested and proven safe before they are allowed to be sold.
  • 45% believed that weight loss supplements are tested and proven effective before they can be sold.
  • 64% believed that the FDA requires all weight loss supplement companies to mention any ill side-effects on the labels.
  • 50% believe that weight loss supplements by enlarge are somewhat effective.
  • 37% believe herbal supplements are safer than OTC or prescription drugs.

Source: National Dietary Survey

Given this potential misunderstanding, the petitioners argue that supplement manufactures are making weight loss claims with little data to back it up. Many independent studies against specific weight loss supplements have shown there’s no difference in a person who takes a weight loss supplement and somebody who does not. Most of them have concluded that there is little if any evidence to suggest that any weight loss product on the market today available to the consumer actually works.

This is inline with what fitness expert Tom Venuto has said in his Fat Burners - The Unadulterated Truth. Other fitness experts, including myself, agree that consumer available weight loss supplements are a multi-billion dollar industry with a severe lack of strong evidence to suggest any significant weight loss. Even green tea, once the best bet for natural and small amounts of weight loss, may not make any difference at all. Although it has other serious health benefits.

As a counter to the petition, CEO Steve Mister of the Council for Responsible Nutrition (CRN) said in the April 28th statement that his group plans to oppose the petition.

“We believe the weight loss claims are legitimate and appropriate claims for the products in the dietary supplement category, provided these products have substantiation to support the truthfulness of these claims.”

The DSHEA, commonly know as the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994, does allow for weight loss supplement companies to make such claims within some guidelines. To think the supplement industry is totally unregulated would be a false statement.

While I fully agree with the statistics provided above, the study was paid for by a major pharmaceutical company. It stands to benefit from this proposed change to regulation.

Childhood Obesity - The Solution is Cholesterol Drugs?

Monday, July 7th, 2008

Childhood obesity

According to new guidelines by the American Academy of Pediatrics designed to prevent heart disease in adults, children as young as 8 years old may be candidates for cholesterol drugs.

As my friend said it so well….

Yea, that’s responsible - pump em full of big pharma drug products and cheeseburgers instead of healthy food and exercise.

If I interpret this correctly, this is just a very tiny step in the United States solution to the childhood obesity problem.

Combat the Fat: You Pick the Winner of The Weight Loss Challenge

Weight Loss Challenge

This seems to be the season of body transformation contests but what Jeff Anderson said that made it different, at least to my eyes and ears was when he said…

“This has by FAR been the best fitness experience of my life and I’m so proud of the 30 contestants (23 men and 7 women) who worked so hard to accomplish so much.” - Jeff Anderson

These guys are competing for $1000 CASH. The odds are pretty good for every single one of them. Somebody might be able to buy a tank of gas with that!

If you get a chance, pass this note around, tell people to vote.

See all the “before & after” transformations and cast YOUR vote…

Caffeine Raising Blood Glucose Levels Says AJCN

Friday, May 30th, 2008

A group of researchers at the University of Guelph, have conduced a study that reached a rather interestingstarbucks girl conclusion.

Drinking caffeinated coffee before your low-sugar, low-glycemic cereal can raise your blood glucose levels as much as 250%! According to this study, those who drank caffeinated coffee before their cereals really spiked their insulin compared to those who drank decaffeinated coffee (where’s the fun in that though).

These same researchers found the ingestion of caffeinated coffee with either a high or low GI meal significantly impairs acute blood glucose management and insulin sensitivity compared with ingestion of decaffeinated coffee.

Of course, the end result was that more research was needed to make any certain conclusions that caffeinated coffee could be a risk factor for insulin resistance.

The study did not list out what meets the criteria for a Western breakfast cereal. I think I’m pretty say with my daily raw oats and I don’t drink coffee before eating. I’ll have it with breakfast sometimes but more often than not, I drink my coffee about 60 minutes after my healthy breakfast.
