Alli - The Weight Loss Pill That Requires Dark Pants

Wednesday, August 29th, 2007

I’m sure by now you are well aware that an FDA approved weight loss aid, named Alli has made its presence on the market . What you may not be aware of is the potential treatment effects. Here’s what you need to know about Xenical’s little brother, before you even consider purchasing this weight loss aid.

Alli Weight Loss Pill

What is Alli?

Alli (pronounced ally) is the little 60mg brother of the 120mg Orlistat, better known as Xenical. Alli is an FDA approved over the counter weight loss aid that claims the user can lose up to 50% more weight than dieting alone. Alli is meant to be used in conjunction with a low calorie diet and exercise plan.

Green Tea Weight Loss: Fuzzy Logic

Monday, August 27th, 2007

Ever since I started drinking Green Tea (the kind you buy at a local supermarket), I’ve seen more and more claims about the green tea weight loss aspect of this product. It seems that if you simply drink a cup or more a day, you magically will drop down two jean sizes and be ready for summer with those six pack abs.

Don’t get me wrong, I fully believe in the health benefits of green tea.   From it’s claimedgreen tea weight loss anti-aging to its potential cancer-fighting benefits, all the way to its promise as a new treatment for psoriasis and other inflammatory skin conditions, including dandruff and lupus-related skin lesions.

What I’m not a believer in is the exaggerated health claims of certain sites based on fuzzy logic that make green tea weight loss claims. To make it even more confusing, we have well known stars endorsing products and 900 types of green tea.

It’s not just regular green tea that is magical for weight loss, it’s this special oolong tea.  And maybe even a new line of Hoodia slimming tea to boot.

Fitness Journal and Workout Programs

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

Recently thru Facebook, a social networking site, a friend pointed out that Gyminee is accepting beta testers. What is Gyminee? It’s an online fitness journal, workout tracking, motivational and workout program community. Apparently it works with the iPhone as well for the exercise video demonstrations.

An often overlooked part of any fitness goal is the communal support in assisting with that goal. It gets very hard to always rely on yourself all the time. Having a group can be the secret to your success. And not just any group, but people with like minded goals.

I can’t comment if you’ll get it or not or if it’s the next best thing since slided bread. But I can say it looks interesting and probably worth a quick attempt to see if you can get in on the action as a beta tester for this fitness journal.

The Truth About Lifetime Fat Loss Advice

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Not a single day goes by that somebody can’t wait to tell me about their weight loss advice. Or a diet they read about. Maybe what I think about such and such a book by this and that author. Even subscribing to news stories, weight loss continues to be a multi-billion dollar industry with articles every day, pills, powders, supplements and a new book of the month.

Being in the fitness industry I’ve heard about every diet, food combination, and dietary supplement from clients and friends.

The following really sums up in about one sentence the one thing that nobody wants to hear when it comes to permanent weight loss.

We’ve all heard and probably seen:

* Foods that are negative calories
* Foods that make you fat
* Foods you need to avoid
* Grocery lists of foods that you should buy when shopping
* Additives in food that could make you fat
* Don’t eat pasta
* Avoid all meats
* Throw all the sugars out in your house
* Food combining

The list goes on and one. Never ends really. And none of the advice is consistent.

But this piece of advice is consistent. It’s so darned obvious.

Alcoholic Energy Drinks - Thumbs Up?

Thursday, August 23rd, 2007

I looked at this statement thinking at first I was crazy…

“In a letter released today, the Attorney Generals of 29 states have
asked the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB) to expand its
efforts to prevent misleading health-related statements from being made
in connection with alcoholic energy drinks and to investigate the
formulation of alcoholic energy drinks to determine whether they are
properly classified as malt beverages under federal law.”

I’m always amazed that some things actually get questioned. You’d
think it was pure common sense that alcoholic drinks mixed with energy
enhancing ingredients wouldn’t be a good idea. Frankly it never
occurred to me that anybody would try and make a health related claim.
On the other hand the Attorneys General nailed it when they said…

“We believe that alcoholic energy drinks constitute a serious health
and safety risk for America’s youth,” said the Attorneys General in
today’s letter. They listed a number of products and advertisements
that “warrant investigation and possible enforcement action … because
they contain misleading health-related claims regarding the products’
effects, in violation of federal regulations.”

It’s quite disturbing that drinks like this can even make it to the market. Who at the top wants to do this to kids anyway to make a quick buck? Never mind… I don’t actually want to know.

Bodybuilding Forum - For Those Seeking Support

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

Just had a quick announcement for you. They say it’s VERY important to have a support group so why is fitness any different?

FACT: It’s not.

Basically, a community based forum to discuss bodybuilding topics can be one of the most overlooked steps in any goals you are trying to achieve. Having people to reach out to when you’ve got questions, or need advice is extremely important.

Have you heard the phrase, “Strength in numbers?”

I run this forum with my partner Kris Anderson of Supplements101.com. We both wanted a bodybuilding forum that was a little different than the rest. Hopefully we’ve got something unique you might enjoy!

Here’s the deal…browse the forum. If you like what you see, join up, it’s totally free. It’s moderated and we do not allow spam posts, flames, personal attacks and things we wouldn’t like happening in our own house.

And it’s well moderated by a team of fitness and bodybuilding guys and gals that love the sport. They are there to help.

Considering the amount of information in this forum, that is a CRAZY deal, definitely worth checking out.

I’d highly recommend at least taking a quick glance and seeing if the forum offers something of value to you!
